Rs.100 Crores Busines in Suriya’s “Maatraan” Movie

Total business of Suriya’s previous movies were sold for under 20 Crores for Vaaranam Aayiram and Ayan. Aadhavan and Singham business were around Rs. 35 Crores. 7am Arivu was around Rs. 60 Crores(incl. Telugu).

Everybody in Kodambakkam is talking about Maatraan’s business and the record it is expected to set inthe next few days.

He quoted as a matter of fact that “the ceiling amount of a Star’s previous movie becomes the floor for his next in the Tamil Industry”. Given that logic, Suriya’s 7am Arivu even after receiving mixed reviews from audience and trashed by popular critics, the movie is expected to collect more than Rs.70 Crores and Suriya previous superhit Singham also collected roughly in that ballpark.

Industry Sources revealed that the family close to TN ruling government is now in talks with AGS to buy Maattrraan domestic rights for 70 to 80 Crores. AGS already sold Maattrraan overseas rights have been already sold for Rs. 12 Crores and Telugu rights through Suriya for Rs. 17 Crores. If the domestic rights sell for more than Rs. 70 Crores, Maattrraan will become the 2nd movie in South India to have done business for more than Rs. 100 Crores closely behind Enthiran.

KV Anand who is gunning for a hattrick blockbuster also collected roughly around 70 Crores for modestly budgeted Ayan and KO. Our source concluded by saying Rs.70 Crores may sound shockingly high for outsiders and record keepers. Given the positive buzz about the movie and from an economic perspective, distributors feel that it is safe to bet Rs.100 Crores on this winning team.

Latest News Vijay – Kajal Agarwal in AR Murugadoss’s “Thuppaki”

The hot buzz going around Vijay – AR Murugadoss film is who is going to pair with Vijay. Though several names including Priyanka Chopra and Priya Anand were tossed around, the opportunity to romance Vijay on-screen has fallen into Kajal’s lap.

We had earlier reported that Priya Anand being signed as the heroine , because of difference of opinion and availability of dates , A.R.Murugadoss has replaced her with Kajal Agarwal . According to the latest buzz the movie has been titled as “Thuppaki” but A.R.Murugadoss refused to comment on the title.

Sources say that the leggy lass, who’s on a high after her Bollywood debut hit Singham with Ajay Devgan, was on cloud nine after signing the film on Tuesday with mass hero Vijay.

She is the only lucky girl to sizzle with two K’town biggies simultaneously — Suriya in Maatran and Vijay in this untitled flick. Her Tollywood career is also looking up with two films — one with Mahesh Babu and another with her Magadheera costar Ram Charan Teja.

A source reveals that the movie, which is produced by Vijay’s dad S.A. Chandrashekar, is set in Mumbai and will be shot extensively in the business capital.

Reportedly it will go on the floors from December 1. Santhosh Sivan will handle the camera and Harris Jayaraj is expected to score the tracks.

AR Murugadoss had three scripts ready for Suriya and it was the star that chose the 7aum Arivu script because he wanted to reach the pinnacle with his acting. 7aum Arivu is expected to further up Suriya’s already soaring star status when it is released this Diwali.

Nikitha lifted Ban on

The Kannada Film Producers Association has decided to lift the 3-year ban imposed on Nikitha following widespread protests from the film fraternity, women’s group and social activists.
Nikitha Thukral was banned by the Producers Association following actor Darshan’s wife Vijayalakshmi alleging that the actress was the main cause for the rift in her family.
Darshan has been arrested following a complaint by his wife alleging domestic violence, it may be recalled. The KFPA took a very one-sided decision and banned Nikitha without seeking an explanation from her. This created an extensive discontent among various groups.
Speaking about the ban being lifted, Nikitha thanked everyone who stood by her to make this possible. The actress said that is was a very biased decision which tarnished her image.

Director Jayam Raja Compares Velayutham with Rajini Baasha

‘Jayam’ Raja has almost completed the shooting of his upcoming big-budget film Velayudham which has Vijay in the lead. The film unites Vijay together with Genelia for the second time after Sachin a few years back. Bubbly and pretty Hansika would be the second heroine in the film which also has the talented Saranya Mohan playing Vijay’s younger sister.
The film has been set to score by Vijay Antony and has been produced by Ravichandran’s Ascar Films. “As such, equal footage has been given to both the heroines. Though sparks flew between them at the shooting spot, there weren’t any verbal duel or the case of both of them looking away from each other. The ‘ego’ problem was very much there but didn’t go beyond our limit,” said Raja.
Genelia’s last film in Tamil was Uthamaputhiran opposite Dhanush which didn’t do exceptionally well at the box-office. On the contrary, Hansika is quite happy at the way her last film Engeyum Kaadhal fared at the box-office. Both the heroines are praying for Velayudham to become a super-duper hit to resurrect and sustain their respective careers.
Speaking about the film, Raja further added that but for a solitary song, the shooting has been completed. He likened the film to Rajini’s phenomenal hit Baadshah when he said that Velahudham to Vijay would be like Enga Veettu Pillai was to MGR and Baashha was to Rajini.

A scene on Rajini Shah Rukh includes

Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra One is to be released on Diwali this year. This film is a super hero subject that is on the lines of Endhiran, say sources. The promos released so far have given an indication that Ra One may have been inspired by Endhiran.
However, Shah Rukh Khan had denied it vehemently, and has also done all that he could to make his film unique. Speaking about Ra One and how different it is to be from Endhiran, the star revealed that there is one scene in the movie which will be a tribute to Rajinikanth.

Abhinaya Surprise in 7aum Arivu

The buzz in the tinsel town is that Abhinaya of Nadodigal fame will be Suriya’s lead pair in the film. Though Shruti Haasan will be the main lead pair, Abhinaya will be his onscreen pair in the flashback.
7aum Arivu’s director AR Murugadoss intended to keep this a secret and had instructed Abhinaya and other members of the team not to reveal it until the film releases but it has leaked out somehow.
Abhinaya’s character will have enough weightage in the film, sources close to the team say.

What did Nayan tell Amala Paul?

Amala Paul is pleased with the text message she had received from Nayanthara recently. The actress says that Nayan had praised her after seeing her pics in a magazine recently. Speaking about Nayan, Amala said that she is awed by her humility when it comes to praising her colleagues in the industry.
Adding further, Amala has said that she wished to capture the place Nayan had left as she considers her to be her role model. It may be mentioned here that both Nayan as well as Amala Paul belong to the same state Kerala.

Velayudham Shooting One lakh Junior artistes

One of the highlights of the upcoming film ‘Velayudham’ starring Vijay, Hansika and Genelia is a sequence involving over one lakh persons which was shot in a grand manner by ‘Jayam’ Raja. The film is awaited with great interest by Vijay’s fans who are hoping their star would repeat the success of his latest film ‘Kavalan’ which released early this year.
This is also the first time Raja is directing a film outside his home production and a hero other than his younger brother ‘Jayam’ Ravi. The film has music by Vijay Antony and is produced by Ravichandran’s Ascar Films. Raja assures that the film has been made keeping in view Vijay’s trusted audience (women and children). The film is hitting the screens on Deepavali eve next month.
Talking about the making of the film, Raja said “I have made optimum use of Vijay’s image and the heroism that he so casually exudes on screen. Likewise, both Genelia and Hansika have been given equal footage; I should also admit that both have rendered their utmost cooperation. Vijay Antony has worked hard to better his tunes which were appreciated in Vettaikkaran, his last film with Vijay. I’m told that the sale of the audio CDs and cassettes of the film has been doing fine.
“Ravichandran is a director’s dream producer and does whatever is asked from him. For a sequence in the film, I needed around one lakh junior artistes. Without bothering to ask me in detail as to why I needed so many people, he simply arranged for the same that too in Kerala and not in Tamil Nadu. The film has been widely shot in various parts of the country with just a song sequence remaining to be canned in the scenic locales of the Kashmir Valley,” he concluded.

Idendity Cards for members of Vijays Makkal Iyakkam

A function was organized at the Nadar Sangam’s Thirumana Mandapam at Tatabad, Coimbatore in which director-producer S.A. Chandrasekaran took part and gave away identity cards to the members and volunteers of his son and actor Vijay’s ‘Makkal Iyakkam’.
Vijay, who didn’t campaign in the recent Assembly elections, was quick to credit the victory of Amma’s AIADMK and its allies to the ‘hardwork’ put in by his fans and members of his ‘Makkal Iyakkam’. SAC presided over the function which was also attended by Raviraja, Anand, Bhaskar and Kumar, functionaries of the ‘Makkal Iyakkam’.
After distributing I-Cards, SAC said “There have been 7.75 lakhs fans as members of the Makkal Iyakkam. Since the process of issuing I-Cards started, the Iyakkam has witnessed enrolment of an additional 1.12 lakhs members. The Iyakkam, as you are aware, has been indulging in providing all sorts of welfare schemes for the benefit of the people in almost all the Districts.
“Instead of directly entering politics, Vijay is doing everything possible to help you (fans). He would always lend his support to all the welfare schemes initiated and implemented by all of you. I shall also be there to render any required assistance,” said SAC.

Rajinis Enthiran to be released in 50 halls in Korea

Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Enthiran: The Robot’ released last year and ran to packed houses in many centres across the globe and created the record of becoming the first Indian film to collect more money at the box-office in the history of Indian films. It also ran successfully in many countries. A company has now taken it upon itself to release the film in Korea.
Eros Entertainment is all set to re-release ‘Enthiran’ as it possesses the foreign distribution rights of the film. In the first stage, the film is likely to be released in as many as 50 theatres in the Korean Republic, Eros has indicated. Kumar Ahuja, senior vice-president of Eros, said “We are all set to release the film in areas where the film hadn’t been seen by anyone.
“We would soon be releasing Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra One in Taiwaan, where not many Indian films are released. In fact, this is the first time an Indian film would be screened new in that country. Our next assignment would be to release superstar Rajini’s ‘Enthiran’ in about 50 cinema halls across the Republic of Korea.
“The Tamil, Hindi and Telugu versions of ‘Enthiran: The Robot’ would be released in these screens,” said Ahuja. For starters, Rajini is not new to Koreans who have already seen his ‘Chandramukhi’ and ‘Sivaji: The Boss’ with Korean sub-titles. As such, they would surely be rooting for ‘Enthiran: The Robot’!

Sarathkumar sizzles in the role of transgender in Kanchana

Sarathkumar is fondly called as ‘Supreme Star’ by his fans and enjoys a reputation as an ‘action hero’. He started off as a producer with a Karthick-starrer in the late eighties and did sundry roles in a few films, played a full-fledged villain to Vijayakanth in ‘Captain Prabhakaran’ before turning hero with K.S. Ravikumar’s ‘Cheran Pandiyan’. Sarathkumar then went on to star in many successful movies as hero opposite almost all the frontline heroines.
Of late, though, he hasn’t been having the best of times in films. Though his political career is looking brighter than ever, he isn’t having the same element of luck in his Kollywood career. He has, therefore, widened his scope of acting by foraying into Malayalam films and by agreeing to do ‘different’ roles in Tamil films too.
One such role is his transformation as a ‘transgender’ in Raghava Lawrence’s ‘Kanchana’, a sequel to the latter’s successful ‘Muni’ a couple of years back. Though Sarath has starred as a woman in some of his films earlier, they were all part of the comic portions and never before had he done the role of a transgender.
Directed by Lawrence, the highlight of the film ‘Kanchana’ is said to be Sarath’s role. Commenting about the role, Lawrences says “Sarath Sir’s character has become the highlight of the film. His portrayal has made the film proud and I can’t remain more thankful to him.” When contacted, Sarath said that he simply performed his duties as an actor.
“I always love to take on challenging roles. I’m very happy that the audiences have taken a huge liking to my role in Kanchana,” said Sarath.
